Active FUNdraising
If you, your group, school, business, or church want to raise awareness, funds, or goods for One Heart for Women and Children, here are some ideas you can do on your own. These ideas have been tried and are a fun way to make a difference in the lives of those in need in Orlando.
Car Wash – Get permission from a local business or outdoor mall in a high traffic area to wash cars in front of, with a suggested donation of $10 and donate the proceeds.
Community Garage Sale – Get together with your neighbors, friends, coworkers or church, and have a community or group garage sale and donate the proceeds.
Birthday Pledge – Tell your loved ones that instead of receiving gifts on your birthday to make donations to One Heart.
Change Jar – Keep a change jar on your desk, by the front door at home, or in the car, and collect and save your loose change to donate.
Host a virtual fundraiser – Host a fun zoom meeting or facebook live event where people can donate directly through our website, facebook or paypal. Invite people to do a virtual activity together with all proceeds going to One Heart. Ask your friends on social media for clothing donations and gift cards for $10-$25 each to Target and/or Walmart.
Host a Facebook Challenge – for every $25 or so donated to One Heart, commit to doing an activity such as push ups, a mile run, a craft, a song, a dance etc, then post your results. The more money raised, the more you’ll have to do! Make it fun, engaging and something you’re passionate about doing.
Skip a Meal – Instead of going out to eat, bring your lunch from home and donate the money you would have spent.
Go Casual – Buy a jeans day at work or school and donate the proceeds.
Canned Food/Toy/Personal Hygiene Item Drive – Get a box and place it in your kitchen, the break room or lobby at work, or ask a local business to place your box in their lobby to collect items and donate the items to One Heart.
“ONE at a time” – Ask people in your school, community or at work to donate 1 bag with the following items from their homes: 1 can of food, 1 pair of socks, $1, 1 towel and 1 piece of clothing. These items can all be found in the house and this activity requires little to coordinate.
Letters of Love – Draw, paint, color or make inspirational messages of hope and share a message of encouragement.
Hygiene Kit Creation – make individual hygiene kits including travel sized toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, comb, brush, shampoo, soap, razor, shaving cream – for distribution to the homeless community. (Nothing with alcohol – no mouthwash). Place in a toiletry bag – or a purse for women at the shelter – or gallon-sized zippered bag to hand out to the homeless.
Make Blanket – Purchase no-sew fleece blankets and make the blankets together with your team or family. Donate the blankets to One Heart.
Make Sandwiches – Keeping food safety and sanitation in mind, make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and place in sandwich bags to give out.
Make Snack Packs – In a brown lunch bag include a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, individual water or gatorade, individually wrapped snacks and a dessert to give out.
Make plastic bag tarps – Make and donate reusable tarps made from strips of plastic bags. These tarps are easily rinsed off and dried in the sun making a convenient and easy mat for people living outdoors.
Backpack / School Supply drives – Did you know? By January, many students’ book bags are very worn, torn, lost or stolen, and they need a new backpack. Fill backpacks with school supplies all year round and donate to One Heart.
Gift card collection – Collect gift cards for local grocery stores, retail shops, gas stations such as Publix, Wawa, Target, Walmart etc, in increments of $10-$25 to donate to One Heart.
